My year in review

In the last several years of my life, I have been finding a strange pattern between odd number years and even numbered years. I am not particularly superstitious or obsessive-compulsive about numbers, but I have found that my even numbered years (and even numbered ages) have been consistently more interesting and worthwhile than my odd ones. For example, I had one of the best self-learning experiences in 2004 when I entered a transition and traveled to China. 2005: I got my first job and did not like it. 2006: Had a rocky beginning, but ended up with me traveling to Poland and having a decent summer as result of that experience. 2007 was sadly the same odd numbered pattern. I did not go anywhere I hadn’t been before. I got yet another job which I’ve kept. I still don’t like the same things, and if anything, knitting became a bigger focus in my life. I read a bit less, and watched fewer films. What this means is that 2008 should include some amazing times. Indeed, I intend to travel again this year. That is the surest thing I know of ‘08 right now. Hopefully it’ll show me even more of itself in wonderous ways.

Why I want to meet Athena

After years of chatting on message boards and a year of writing in letters, I want to meet the person behind the pen/username. She is sweet and intelligent. I want to earn her trust so that I may finally be allowed the previlege of calling her by her real name.

Why I want to meet Athena

Because she is quite adept at taking my brain, twisting it upside-down, and confounding me. Also, she blinds me with science. She also has excellent penmanship. Or so I assume.

Why I want to meet booknero

So we can shoot one another. Not in the face. Unless of course, he is a psycho in which case, I will not want to meet him and block him from everything.

My year in review

Halfway through this year, I realized this was a big year for me. I couldn’t wait to write this entry even then knowing that I had accomplished so much in the first half of the year. 2006 was a big year for me in all ways, and I think emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, I’m more grown up. After last winter, I knew some of this growth was a long time coming. It was nice to go back to church for awhile, and this all linked up to my Holocaust trip to Poland. Here is the big list, more or less:
  • Learned to Knit
  • Travelled to Europe (Poland) and the States
  • I floss every day now. How could I ever have lived without it?
  • Ran three times a week for two months and liked it!
  • Started writing daily in my paper journal
  • Got my driver’s license, barely driven. Still one more level to go.
  • Got and sometimes wear my contacts
  • Saw Coldplay live for my birthday in March!
  • Bought a digital camera (finally) and a new laptop computer (Macbook)!
  • Identified 100 things that make me happy.

Additionally, tried to learn some Spanish, did some volunteering, quit my 2005 job and got another crappy one for the summer only, am active in extracurriculars, almost failed a class (again), got a PO Box and wrote and received a lot of mail, played sudoku, and met some awesome, amazing people. Some of which I hope I can stay in touch for a very long time. As for books, movies, and CDs, with all the stuff that’s happened this year, my reading has suffered and so has my film viewing. Official numbers are not out, but this is the lowest number of books I’ve read since 2001? I hope to get back on the horse and do some of the above things again: more exercise, reading, travel, knitting, etc. It’s been an awesome year. I am always grateful for what I’ve been given. Here’s hoping to an even more amazing 2007. Cheers for the New Year!

She has been kind to me in letters and gifts for many years. She is one of the most generous people I have ever encountered offline or online. I hope you remain kind and good to others and yourself most of all. <3

My year in review

To note, most of the things that I did do weren’t from this year. What I did do new this year was a get a job, and it’s worth it for the money I guess, but in other ways, I just hate my job. I also learned the t-shirt technique people were raving about. I also did not visit any new places this year, hopefully I will next year. I am currently in progress for several 43things lists including: relearning the violin, trying to get a new job, learning Spanish, making a list of 100 things that make me happy. I am going to stop learning Spanish next year though, and the violin thing will be an ongoing process as the getting a new job thing until the summer. Other than that, not much else is happening except that once again, I have read more books this year than the previous. I must cherish this time now because one day, I won’t be able to read 80 books a year. Good year Robot Co-op!
